The 24-year-old, who has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp in the Spanish press, has drawn criticism for his recent performances.

Barca have taken just one point from a possible 12 and were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid last week, but Mestre said the club are happy with Neymar.

Mestre told Barca TV: "That is something that keeps coming up, but I have said it many times - we are delighted with Neymar.

"Neymar will not be sold. We have not even thought about doing it."

Neymar has 81 goals in 135 appearances since arriving in La Liga, and has formed a formidable link with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

And Mestre also revealed that Neymar was offered better wages elsewhere when he joined Barcelona from Santos in 2013, but chose "good football" alongside the likes of Messi.

"When he signed for us, he made a financial effort as other clubs were going to give him more money. He came here to play because he wanted to play good football, alongside [Lionel] Messi, to win trophies.

"This season he has been spectacular. For sure, that he has not scored recently, or things have not gone as he wanted, has brought out some comments, but they are pure speculation."
