James Rodriguez has ended uncertainty over his immediate future by vowing to stay at Real Madrid.

The Colombia international said in December that he "could not assure" he would remain at the club because he had offers to move in January.

Rodriguez was reportedly a target for Manchester United and Chelsea, but Real Madrid are under transfer embargo this month and cannot sign a replacement for the £71m midfielder until the summer.

The 25-year-old has grown frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities under Zinedine Zidane but scored twice in a 3-0 win over Sevilla in the Copa del Rey last-16 on Wednesday.

"Now a new year has begun for me and I'm staying at Madrid," he said. "Everyone in the team wants to play all the time, and we all go through bad moments.

"I just want to play well when I have the chance and be able to do good things like I did today and help the team by scoring goals."

Real boss Zidane was praiseworthy of the playmaker, who has made just four league starts this campaign.
