Valencia's Phil Neville discusses his managerial ambitions

Valencia assistant Phil Neville has told Sky Sports he has no immediate plans to return to England and harbours aspirations of managing in Spain.

The former England, Manchester United and Everton player is currently part of the coaching set-up at the Mestalla, working with his brother, Valencia boss Gary Neville.

After a stint working in the media, the younger Neville brother is now embarking on his second high-profile coaching role, having been involved in David Moyes' ill-fated 10-month spell at Old Trafford.

And, speaking in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports' Geoff Shreeves, Neville revealed his perceived failings in coaching and beyond are driving his will to succeed in Spain.

"I do not want to leave here, that is 100 per cent," he said. "I do not want to leave Spain.

"I was at Manchester United for one year, I left when I probably did not want to because I didn't deem myself a success there. I thought we failed.

"I then went into broadcasting. I left after a year - I felt I was getting better but I didn't feel as if I was a success.

"I want to be a success here, I want to see this through. I want to learn Spanish - I want to be perfect at Spanish - and I want to be successful. I don't want to be going year to year to year to a different job.

"I want to be a success here and I want to come home knowing full well that I committed to the culture, I was successful and I can be fluent in Spanish - not only me but my family as well because it's just as important for them that they embrace the culture too."

With Gary tasked to oversee Los Che until the end of the season, thoughts understandably turn to the long-term future of the club, and perhaps a potential successor.

Asked whether he would want to take over the managerial responsibilities from his brother in the future, Neville replied: "Ultimately I want to be a manager in Spain, whether it's at Valencia, Eibar, Levante.

"I want to be a manager in Spain, it's a wonderful country to learn your trade, to be a manager in and to live your life. That's what it's like in Spain.

"The Spanish player is not only a footballer, he lives his life as well. He enjoys his life, they've got a really nice lifestyle with it.

"If somebody said to me, 'You've got a job offer in England' - which I have had over the last couple of months - the thought doesn't enter my head to go back to England.

"I went back to England for the Christmas period and you know it's a success when your two children turn around after a day and say, 'Daddy I want to go back home to Valencia'.

"That's how I feel and that's why I want to stay here until I'm a success."
