Cesare Prandelli has quit as manager of Valencia after just 10 matches in charge of the struggling La Liga club.

The former Italy coach took charge of the club in October but has now decided to call an end to his time with Spanish side.

Prandelli secured one win in eight league games and leaves the six-time La Liga winners hovering above the drop zone on goal difference.

The 59-year-old was Valencia's fourth coach of 2016; Gary Neville lasted four months before he was sacked in March and his replacement Pako Ayestaran was fired after six months.

Voro, who has previously been caretaker-boss four times, has again been handed the reigns on a temporary basis while the club search for their 10th manager since 2012.

"Cesare Prandelli has communicated to Valencia Club de Futbol his irrevocable decision to resign from his position as coach, as of Friday, December 30th," confirmed Valencia in a statement.

"'Voro will take over in charge of the first team squad."
