AC Milan were made to work hard for a place in the last 16 of the Coppa Italia as they needed extra-time to win 3-1 against Serie B opponents Crotone.
It took Luiz Adriano until the 47th minute on Tuesday to score past the Calabrian club, who forced 30 more minutes of play with an equaliser from Ante Budimir in the 68th minute.
Milan looked rattled until Giacomo Bonaventura restored their lead with a free-kick on 105 minutes and M'Baye Niang settled Rossoneri nerves for good by making it 3-1 in the 115th minute.
While Sinisa Mihajlovic's men will next face Sampdoria in the quarter-finals, Torino set up a city derby with Juventus by defeating second-tier side Cesena 4-1 at the Stadio Olimpico.
Alessandro Gazzi, Emiliano Moretti and Maxi Lopez put the Granata out of sight, with Marco Benassi adding a fourth late on after Emmanuel Cascione managed to reply for Cesena.
Elsewhere, Spezia booked a trip to Roma with their 2-0 triumph over Salernitana. Emanuele Calaio and Sergio Postigo scored before the former was sent off midway through the second half.
