Hernanes broke his duck as Juventus celebrated winning the Serie A title for the fifth year in a row by beating relegation-threatened Carpi 2-0 in Turin on Sunday.

Six days after results elsewhere meant Massimiliano Allegri's indomitable side had done enough to lock Napoli out of the race for the 2015-16 championship, the Bianconeri returned to the Juventus Stadium to give their loyal following even more reason to be cheerful.

In the 42nd minute, Brazilian playmaker Hernanes finally found a maiden goal after enduring a near nine-month drought and Juve eventually broke through a resolute Carpi defence for a second time as substitute Simone Zaza scored with a late header.

Defeat leaves Carpi just above the bottom three, above Palermo only on goal difference.

AC Milan just about managed to avoid a humiliating home defeat to Serie A strugglers Frosinone - but nevertheless lost their grip on sixth place.

Only a stoppage-time penalty from substitute Jeremy Menez spared Milan's blushes by rescuing a point from a thrilling 3-3 draw at San Siro.

Goals from Luca Paganini and Oliver Kragl had given the relegation battlers a shock 2-0 lead and, following half-time, Mario Balotelli missed the chance to drag Milan back into contention when his penalty was saved.

Carlos Bacca did produce an overdue reply for the hosts, only for Federico Dionisi to extend Frosinone's advantage.

However, Luca Antonelli inspired Milan with an acrobatic goal and then, two minutes into time added on, fellow substitute Menez levelled from the spot.

The point was not enough to keep Sassuolo, 1-0 winners over already-relegated Hellas Verona thanks to Lorenzo Pellegrini's 58th-minute goal, from usurping Milan and moving into the final Europa League berth.

Frosinone, meanwhile, are four points from safety with only two games remaining, with Palermo looking more likely to scramble to safety following their convincing 2-0 home victory over Sampdoria.

A first-half goal from Franco Vazquez and Nenad Krsticic's late own goal saw Davide Ballardini's men draw level on 35 points with 17th-placed Carpi.

Elsewhere, Daniele Croce had a goal ruled out and Riccardo Saponara was denied a penalty as Empoli were held to a goalless draw by Bologna in Tuscany.

In the late game, Lazio ended Inter's hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League after beating them 2-0.

Miroslav Klose netted early on for the home side before Antonio Candreva secured the result with a late penalty after Jeison Murillo had been sent off.

Inter are now seven points behind Roma in third with just two games left to play.
