Roma defender Kostas Manolas has failed to turn up for a medical before a £30m move to Zenit St Petersburg.
The deal has been delayed because Manolas wants his wages to be paid in Euros instead of Roubles.
The Euro has historically been a more stable currency compared to the more volatile Rouble.
Manolas has been offered a five-year deal by the Russian club who are now managed by Roberto Mancini, and his medical was due to start at 7am on Wednesday morning.
The Greece international centre-back had previously been linked with English clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea.
