Emerson depressed

Roma midfielder Emerson's transfer saga has taken a fresh twist, after the Brazilian claimed he is suffering from depression.

Emerson is determined to sign for Juventus during the summer and link up again with former Roma coach Fabio Capello.

The influential midfielder has reportedly agreed terms with the Turin giants, but there is no accord between the two clubs.

The Roman outfit insist they have not reached an agreement with Juventus and have no plans to succumb to Emerson's demands.

But in a bizarre attempt to force Roma's hand, Emerson has now informed the club's powerbrokers that he is depressed due to his failure to seal a move to Stadio Delle Alpi.

Emerson's doctors have dispatched medical certificates to Roma, which confirm the South American has been diagnosed with depression.

His condition will prevent him from linking up with the Roma squad, under new coach Cesare Prandelli, for the start of the training camp on Tuesday.

The player's relationship with his club now appears to have hit rock bottom with the latest development in his transfer story.

Emerson will likely be hoping that his ailment will back Roma into a corner and force them to sanction a move to Juventus.
