Cristiano Lucarelli was delighted to finish top scorer in Serie A but failed to win an Italy call-up.The Livorno striker netted an impressive 24 goal in the league this term but will only be a spectator for the Azzurri clash against Norway.
Lucarelli had hoped his goals would win him a place in Marcello Lippi's squad but the hit-man was left disappointed.
The 29-year-old was desperate to play for his country and finish the season on a high, but his dream was extinguished.
"I had a big desire to be the leading scorer," said Lucarelli.
"It will be difficult to repeat the same next season.
"I'm ready and at Marcello Lippi's disposal. I hope to finish the season training with the Azzurri."
