Hannover ended an eight-game losing streak and gave their hopes of Bundesliga survival a boost with a 2-1 win at Stuttgart on Saturday.

Two goals from captain Christian Schulz saw them come from behind to triumph for the first time since Thomas Schaaf took charge in the winter break.

With Werder Bremen held to a 2-2 draw at home to Darmstadt, the win lifts the Lower Saxony club to within four points of the relegation play-off berth and five from safety, before fellow strugglers Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt play on Sunday.

Bremen's fans held up a banner saying that their patience was not indefinite ahead of their side's draw, which was secured by a last-gasp Claudio Pizarro goal at the Weserstadion.

Bremen took the lead when Anthony Ujah met Sambou Yatabare's cross with a shot on the turn, but Darmstadt levelled before half-time through Sandro Wagner's penalty after he was fouled by Felix Wiedwald.

Ujah and Claudio Pizarro missed chances before Aytac Sulu headed Darmstadt in front with eight minutes remaining, but Pizarro headed Bremen back on terms from a corner in the last minute.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Hamburg and Ingolstadt ensured they remain well clear of the relegation drama with a 1-1 draw.
