Borussia Dortmund kept up the pressure on Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Mainz, although the game was overshadowed by the death of a fan due to a heart attack.

Marco Reus and Shinji Kagawa scored the goals that took Thomas Tuchel's men back to within five points of Bayern, but by the time the second goal had gone in, news had spread that a fan had passed away.

A second Dortmund supporter also suffered a heart attack and was taken to hospital, where the Westphalian club said he was in a stable condition.

Both sets of fans remained silent late on with a rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' involving the entire stadium concluding the proceedings.

In Sunday's other Bundesliga fixture, Bayer Leverkusen got back to winning ways to boost their hopes of qualifying for Europe next season.

An Albin Ekdal own-goal was enough for Roger Schmidt's men to see off Hamburg 1-0 at the BayArena and move to within a point of sixth-placed Mainz and a place in the Europa League next season.
