Sunderland ended their pre-season unbeaten as Lamine Kone's header and a valiant defensive displayed earned a 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund in Austria.

Nuri Sahin opened the scoring for the Bundesliga giants on 16 minutes after Sunderland failed to clear, but David Moyes' men rallied to frustrate Thomas Tuchel's side for the remainder of the first half.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and summer signing Emre Mor were brought on at half-time as Dortmund injected pace and quality into their attack.

However, it was young Duncan Watmore who had the better chances for the Black Cats after the interval, although he was unable to convert after being played through on goal.

Lamine Kone was more clinical in front of goal, though, as his towering 65th-minute header hauled the Wearsiders level at the Cashpoint Arena.
