Hoffenheim moved up to third in the Bundesliga on Sunday night after clinching their fifth straight league win of the season.
A Niklas Sule header was enough to earn Julian Nagelsmann's men all three points and take them above their guests Hertha Berlin with a 1-0 win.
After drawing their first four games of the season, Hoffenheim have now won five in a row to remain unbeaten this season.
Counting results from February, when Nagelsmann took over a side rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga, only Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have picked up more points than a team who are looking increasingly serious contenders for a place in Europe next season.
The same can also be said of Cologne, who beat Hamburg 3-0 in the final fixture of the weekend.
Anthony Modeste netted his ninth, 10th and 11th goals of the season - and missed a penalty - as Peter Stoger's men moved up to fourth in the standings and left Hamburg languishing at the bottom of the table without a win all season.
Markus Gisdol's men also lost Bobby Wood to a red card, and have not now scored in 667 minutes.
