Borussia coach resigns

Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Doll has resigned just two days after the end of the Bundesliga season. The former Germany international striker tendered his resignation at a board meeting on Monday after a miserable season at the Signal Iduna Park. The 1997 European champions qualified for next season's Uefa Cup after reaching the DFB Cup final, but this success could not paper over the cracks of what has been the club's worst Bundesliga campaign for 20 years. Doll, who is contracted at BVB until 2010, joined the club 14 months ago. An early favorite to succeed him is Mainz coach and TV pundit Jurgen Klopp who has announced he would be leaving after just missing out on promotion to the top-flight this season.
