Arjen Robben has been ruled out for four weeks with a left abductor injury, Bayern Munich have announced.

The winger was forced off after half-an-hour of the Netherlands' 1-0 defeat to Iceland in Thursday's European Qualifier with pain in his thigh.

Tests carried out on Friday in Munich by Bayern club doctor Volker Braun have revealed a muscle injury in the region of his left abductor.

The 31-year-old now looks set to be out of action until early October for both club and country.

Robben will miss Sunday's crucial European Qualifier away to Turkey, a game which Danny Blind's national side must win to maintain a realistic chance of automatically qualifying for next summer's finals in France.

Ten-man Holland conceded a penalty early on in the second half which allowed Swansea City's Gylfi Sigurdsson to take the penalty and put Iceland 1-0 up.

Bundesliga clashes with last season's runners-up Wolfsburg, and Thomas Tuchel's Borussia Dortmund, are among four top-flight games Robben looks likely to miss, as well as Matchday One and Two clashes in the Champions League group stages against Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb respectively.

Robben's knock adds to the growing list of injuries Bayern manager Pep Guardiola has to deal with, with Medhi Benatia, Franck Ribery and Holger Badstuber currently sidelined.
