Hannover sack Thomas Schaaf with club bottom of the Bundesliga

Hannover have sacked head coach Thomas Schaaf with the club rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga.
The German side released a statement saying the decision was taken following "intensive analysis" by club chief Martin Kind and sporting director Martin Bader involving Schaaf. Former U19 coach Daniel Stendel will take over until the end of the season.
Hannover are bottom of the league, 10 points from safety, and lost 3-0 at home to Hamburg on Saturday, their 10th loss in the last 11 games.
Schaaf, who coached Werder Bremen for 14 years, had taken over Hannover during the Bundesliga's winter break but managed only one win from 11 matches.
"We have certainly not made an easy decision," Badar said. "Thomas has always been meticulous and focused on his work to get positive results for the team. Unfortunately it hasn't worked out.
"After the 10th defeat in 11 games, we came to the decision that we don't want to end the season like that and that we'll try to give the team a new impulse with a coaching change."
With just six games remaining in the German season, Badar said officials at the club know survival is "only very theoretically possible".
Assistant coaches Wolfgang Rolff and Matthias Hoenerbach have also left the club.
