Borussia Dortmund have appointed Ajax's Peter Bosz as their new head coach.

The 53-year-old Dutchman took Ajax to an unsuccessful Europa League final against Manchester United last season, while finishing second in the Eredivisie.

Bosz replaces Thomas Tuchel, who left Dortmund last week despite winning the German Cup and finishing third in the Bundesliga.

Bosz - a disciple of the late Johan Cruyff's style of football - revitalised Ajax with a young, energetic and dynamic team in what will be his only season at the club.

They missed out on the title by just two points to Feyenoord, scoring the second-most goals behind the champions and conceding the joint-least along with third-place PSV Eindhoven.

Former Netherlands international Bosz began his managerial career with his hometown club AGOVV Apeldoorn - an amateur team.
