Watch the heartwarming moment ADO Den Haag's fans showered Feyenoord supporters with stuffed animals during their game in the Eredivisie

Throwing things from the stands at football games is normally not to be encouraged, except in certain, very exceptional circumstances.

The ADO Den Haag supporters who made the trip to Feyenoord on Sunday afternoon were asked to bring teddy bears with them to the Eredivisie match at De Kuip.

However, the travelling fans were also told to throw them down to the stand underneath them in the 12th minute of the match.

And here's why - children who are patients at a local hospital were below the away supporters. They were guests at the contest along with their parents and staff from the Sophia Children's Hospital.

As a result of the gesture, there was huge applause heard ringing all around the stadium in Rotterdam.

Meanwhile, Feyenoord head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst even had his own toy collection.
