Van der Vaart's Zlatan anger

Tensions are likely to be high in the Ajax camp.

Tensions are likely to be high in the Ajax camp following the Netherlands' 2-2 draw with Sweden on Wednesday.

Ajax skipper Rafael van der Vaart was forced off after five minutes of the game and he has expressed disappointment with the actions of Sweden striker and Amsterdam ArenA team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"I was kicked by Zlatan, " said van der Vaart. "It seems like strained ankle ligaments.

"It swelled up straight away and will probably need two weeks' rest.

"It can be longer, especially if something is broken, but I don't think it will be that bad."

Van der Vaart claims Ibrahimovic continued his roughhouse treatment throughout the game.

"It's possible to hit someone by accident," added van der Vaart. "But, to me, it seemed like he lost it.

"It may be going a bit far to say he was doing it on purpose, but it seemed like that.

"He hit John (Heitinga) in the back and he tried to hit Wesley (Sneijder).

"We are all team-mates and I don't know what is wrong with him.

"Maybe he thought he had to show himself in this way."

Ajax coach Ronald Koeman will hope to ease the tension in a bid to keep their challenge for honours on track.

Koeman will be relieved to learn that van der Vaart has only suffered a sprain to his ankle and is likely to be back in action in around 10 days.
