Midfielder Daniele De Rossi will miss the second leg of Roma's Champions League last-16 with Real Madrid.

Roma have confirmed De Rossi has sustained a calf injury which will rule him out of the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu in three weeks' time.

The 32-year-old Italy international was injured in the closing stages of Wednesday's first-leg at the Stadio Olimpico, a game which Real won 2-0 thanks to strike from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jese Rodriguez.

It is the fifth time De Rossi has injured the same calf in the past 18 months.

Roma claim it will take De Rossi a month to recover from his latest injury setback, meaning he is likely to miss four or five league games in addition to the European tie.
