Club Brugge playmaker Victor Vazquez is targeting a Champions League shock when he takes on his former coach on Tuesday.

Vazquez was coming through the youth ranks at Barcelona when Louis van Gaal was in charge and he was highlighted as one of the Belgian side's biggest threats by the Manchester United coach on Monday.

Brugge are huge outsiders for the play-off first leg clash at Old Trafford but Vazquez feels it would be dangerous for United to underestimate them.

They beat European stalwarts Panathinaikos 4-1 on aggregate to qualify earlier this month.

"We are the smaller team but they have to be worried. We are playing with confidence and we can be dangerous tomorrow," Vazquez said.

The Spaniard's dealings with Van Gaal at the Nou Camp were brief, but he was thankful to the Dutchman for his kind words ahead of a massive night for both clubs, looking to qualify for the lucrative group stages of the competition.

"It's always nice to hear about the big ones," said Vazquez. "I met him in Barcelona. I was young, maybe 11 or 12 years old but my impression was that he was a really hard coach with a lot of character and personality, just like he is now.
