Borussia Dortmund are "simply desperate" to beat Jurgan Klopp when Liverpool visit Signal Iduna Park in the Europa League quarter-final, says defender Mats Hummels.

Klopp is still revered by the Dortmund faithful after a successful seven-year spell at the club where he won two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and took them to the Champions League final in 2013.

The 48-year-old returns to his former side as manager of another club for the very first time on April 7 and Hummels admits the eagerly-anticipated fixture will be an emotional occasion.

"The tie with Liverpool is one where we are simply desperate to beat Klopp. We have to beat him," Hummels told German Broadcaster ZDF.

"Of course, he will get a warm welcome and a warm farewell. But I hope to drive him mad in between.
