Liverpool's James Milner has withdrawn from the England squad for their upcoming international friendlies due to a hamstring injury.

The midfielder - who has 57 caps - missed Liverpool's defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday after suffering the injury in the 1-0 Europa League win over Rubin Kazan.

He will now also miss England's friendlies against Spain and France, with no replacement due to be added to manager Roy Hodgson's squad.

Milner has played 16 games for Liverpool since joining from Man City on a free transfer in the summer and has been given the role of captain with Jordan Henderson currently out injured.
