England's Jack Wilshere eager for chance to shine at Euro 2016

Jack Wilshere says he is fully fit and ready to repay the faith shown in him by England boss Roy Hodgson.

The 24-year-old midfielder was included in Hodgson's 23-man squad for this month's European Championship finals despite making his first start in almost a year in Arsenal's 4-0 win over Aston Villa on May 15.

He came on as a 66th minute substitute in Thursday's 1-0 win over Portugal after starting the friendly victories over Turkey and Australia and feels ready to make a valuable contribution for his country this summer.

"It's great to be back in an England shirt and back in the set-up," he told FATV.

"I feel as each game has gone on I've got better and sharper and used to the way we play with England again.

"I feel ready now. Of course I haven't played a lot of football this season but the manager kept faith in me and I'm thankful for that.

"It's down to me to show him I'm fit and show him I'm still the same player and that I'm ready to play for England."
