This week in 1966, England won the World Cup at Wembley and we've taken a look back at some of the major talking points from the tournament

Sky Sports will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of England's 1966 World Cup win across all its platforms this Saturday, so make sure you join us for what promises to be a fun-packed day...

On a baking hot summer's afternoon at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, July 30 1966, Alf Ramsey's England beat West Germany 4-2 after extra time to win the Jules Rimet trophy for the first, and so far, only time in their history.

To mark the anniversary of the historic occasion, we at Sky Sports will be recreating much of the day itself, including a 'live' minute-by-minute blog of the entire game itself on our web, mobile and iPad platforms.

That is ALL 120 minutes of the drama, as well as a full build-up to the showpiece event and post-match reaction too from the home of football, including analysis from Sky Sports pundit and former England international defender Jamie Carragher at half-time and after the full-time whistle.

Sky Sports News HQ will be also commemorating England's victory by displaying replicas of both the famous old trophy and the distinctive orange match ball throughout the day in its studio.
