England's players are being given a special cyber-security lesson, before they head out to Russia for the World Cup, Sky Sports News understands.

The FA has a dedicated in-house IT team, who have themselves undergone special training from external security experts, so that the squad is best protected from hackers while away from home.

Gareth Southgate takes a relaxed view, when it comes to his players using social media, and the same policy will apply in Russia.

But the FA wants to ensure the players are aware of the possible social media pitfalls during a high-profile tournament, and that they are also up to date with the latest cyber security techniques.

Fans heading to Russia for the World Cup are also being told to be on their guard and to be particularly wary of hotel and public wi-fi, and to keep their devices on them at all times.
