Prince William meets England squad ahead of World Cup

Prince William visited the England camp on Thursday

England received a royal visit from Prince William ahead of the World Cup as they prepare to face Costa Rica in their final warm-up match on Thursday.

The Three Lions take on the Central Americans at Elland Road as Gareth Southgate finalises his plans for the upcoming tournament in Russia.

Prince William, who has acted as president of the Football Association since 2006, visited England at their training ground at the West Riding County Football Association on Thursday.

The Duke of Cambridge spent time chatting with Southgate and several members of his squad, while he also handed Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold his first England shirt for the Costa Rica game.

England fly to Russia on Tuesday ahead of their opening game of the tournament against Tunisia on June 18.

Southgate's squad then play Panama on June 24 before facing Belgium in their final Group G game on June 28.
