Scotland captain Darren Fletcher is a doubt for the trip to Slovakia on Tuesday after picking up a thigh injury against Lithuania.

The West Bromwich Albion midfielder was forced off at half-time with the complaint, and manager Gordon Strachan confirmed after the game that he will struggle to make the trip to Bratislava.

It comes as a double blow to Scotland after they failed to get past Lithuania, ranked 73 places below them in the FIFA world rankings, at Hampden on Saturday evening.

Lithuania went ahead just before the hour mark through Fedor Cernych, firing past David Marshall at the near post having gone through one-on-one.

But in the 90th minute, Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur nodded home from eight yards after Grant Hanley's flick on to level the scores, though Strachan's side would have expected to take all three points.

The result means Scotland are second in Group F, two points behind leaders England.
