Scott Brown remains non-committal on whether he will face England in Scotland's next World Cup Qualifier, despite captaining his country to a 1-0 win over Slovenia on Sunday evening.

The Celtic midfielder led the side again after Darren Fletcher dropped to the bench for the Group F clash at Hampden Park.

Brown missed the first three games of the qualifying campaign after announcing his international retirement in August, but came back to help out his former Hoops boss Gordon Strachan after his form and fitness improved dramatically in the early stages of the season.

The timing of the Scotland's game against England on June 10 complicates matters, however, as Celtic begin their Champions League campaign on July 11-12.

"We'll see how it goes," Brown told Sky Sports News HQ. "It's going to be a hard situation because we are going to be back so early in June.

"Last year I had the six weeks off, so I need to look after my body as well and see how it is for Celtic.

"I need to maintain the level and fitness that I have been playing at all season. If I can maintain that as long as I possibly can, you never know."

Brown is likely to discuss the situation with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, who had six of his players in the Scotland starting line-up on Sunday, before making a final decision on his involvement against England.

The midfielder benefited from an extended summer break before Rodgers took over at Parkhead after finishing last season early due to hamstring problems.
