Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has backed his players to bounce from Friday's shock defeat in Georgia when they face world champions Germany.

Scotland's hopes of reaching next summer's European Championship suffered a significant setback as they lost 1-0 to Georgia in Tbilisi on Friday.

The loss sees the Scots fall to fourth in group D and they face a daunting task on Monday when they welcome Germany to Hampden Park but Strachan is confident his team have put Friday's disappointment behind them and are ready to take on the world champions.

Strachan said: "We will look forward to this wonderful challenge of playing the world champions. The players give me hope and playing here gives me hope.

"They're used to it. They're footballers and they've never gone through their careers and it's been easy. They've been getting knock-backs since they were 15 years old and that's why they're here.

"We will do it together. These are the kinds of people we need. Everybody has trained well and it shows that they are over their disappointment."

Strachan is adamant there are few tweaks required to his side despite the disappointing performance in Tbilisi, but accepts his side's goal threat must improve to stand a chance against the Germans.

"It has to improve but only in the final third," he said. "What we cannot have is a repeat of what happened in the final third because we could have done better there.

Scott Brown thinks Scotland had an average performance and were unlucky to lose to Georgia

"They played the way I wanted them to play apart from the final third. We didn't play as well as I like there because we had to play passes into feet and around the corners because they have got three such big centre-backs. We couldn't just throw balls in there.

"When you play like that you have to be really precise or something magical works and that didn't happen because we were just out a couple of yards.

"A couple of passes here or there and we could have been a happier squad but we deal with that disappointment."
