Wales captain Ashley Williams admits panic will set in watching Gareth Bale in the Champions League final.

Real Madrid forward Bale - who scored seven of Wales' 11 goals in qualifying for Euro 2016 - carries the hopes of a nation in France next month.

Before that, however, Bale could win European club football's biggest prize for the second time when Zinedine Zidane's side play city rivals Atletico Madrid in Milan on Saturday night.

It will be a nervous evening for every Welsh supporter, hoping Bale emerges unscathed, and Williams confirmed the Wales squad will be anxiously looking on from their pre-Euro 2016 training camp in Portugal.

"I've spoken to the gaffer [Chris Coleman] about this and we had a laugh," said Williams.

"I don't know what to do, whether to watch it or not. I'm really pleased for Gareth and want him to win, but at the same time I want him to just get through the game.

"I don't want to watch him because every time he goes down I am going to be panicking.

Bale scored in the 4-1 Champions League final victory over Atletico two years ago when Real were crowned champions of Europe for the 10th time.

The 26-year-old would become the youngest British player to lift the trophy twice should Real triumph at the San Siro, and Coleman says the entire Wales squad are behind their star performer.

"I'd watch the game anyway, even if none of the boys were involved but we'll watch it together as a squad," said Coleman.

"We all hope [Real] Madrid win it again and if they do, it's incredible for Balo.

"A Cardiff boy and he would be a two-time Champions League winner in three years. Absolutely fantastic."
