Wales have appointed Rob Page as their new Under-21 manager on a four-year deal.

The former Port Vale and Northampton boss succeeds Geraint Williams in the role and will also take charge of the U19 and U17 sides.

Williams, who had been in charge of the U21s since 2012, was told in December that his contract would not be renewed after failing to lead Wales to Euro 2017.

"The Football Association of Wales are delighted to announce Robert Page as the new Wales intermediate manager on a four-year contract," a FAW statement read.

"The 42-year-old will take charge of the Under-21 squad as well as the national Under-17 and Under-19 teams."

Page's first competitive match as Wales U21s boss will be in September when the qualification campaign for Euro 2019 begins.

The former Wales centre-back had been out of work since being sacked as Northampton boss in January after less than eight months at the Sky Bet League One club.
