Burnley defender Kevin Long has received his first call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the matches against Mexico, Uruguay and Austria.

The 26-year-old has featured only three times for the Clarets this season, but has started their past two Premier League games against West Brom and Bournemouth.

Long begun his career at Cork City before joining Burnley in 2009. He has since spent time on loan at Accrington, Rochdale, Portsmouth, Barnsley and Milton Keynes Dons.

Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark misses out due to a knee injury and joins captain Seamus Coleman and midfielder David Meyler on the sidelines.

Ireland fly to New York on May 29 ahead of their friendly against Mexico at MetLife Stadium on June 1 before returning to face Uruguay at Aviva Stadium on June 4.
