Corinne Diacre has left her position as manager of men’s side Clermont-Foot to replace Olivier Echouafni as head coach of France Women.
Diacre, a former France international with more than 100 caps to her name, spent three years in charge of Ligue 2 Clermont.
Echouafni was sacked following France's exit from Euro 2017 at the quarter-final stage where they lost 1-0 to England, incurring their first defeat to the Lionesses in 43 years.
"Corinne is a very experienced manager who has signed up for a long-term project with a first major task: preparing for the 2019 World Cup on French soil," French Football Federation boss Noel Le Graet said.
