Former Manchester City striker Robinho is expected to join Brazilian compatriot Paulinho at Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, according to Sky sources.

The 31-year-old announced following his country's exit from the Copa America that he is to leave Brazilian club Santos this summer after four years with his boyhood club.

Guangzhou are managed by former Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari and snapped up Tottenham's Paulinho in a £9.9m deal earlier this week.

Reports in Brazilian media suggest Robinho is keen on the move, after featuring twice and scoring once for his country as they were dumped out of the Copa America quarter-finals by Paraguay.

Robinho shot to fame in a three-year spell at Real Madrid where he scored 30 goals in over 100 appearances. He then joined Man City as one of their first marquee signings in 2008 in a deal worth £32.5m.

He scored 16 goals during his two-year spell at the Etihad before joining AC Milan in 2010, where he scored a further 29 times in over 100 games.

Robinho spent last season on loan at Santos during the final year of his Milan contract.
