I was at Anfield on Sunday, where Wayne Rooney set a new Premier League landmark with his 176th goal for Manchester United - the most for one club, beating our own Thierry Henry's 175 for Arsenal. It was only his second goal at Anfield; the first came in a 1-0 win 11 years ago. He has scored five in his last four games and it's almost four years since he last scored in four consecutive appearances for Manchester United.

Rooney has scored six goals in the Premier League against Liverpool, home and away - going further clear as the top Manchester United scorer in the fixture. The overall top scorer in these fixtures is Steven Gerrard (eight).

Remarkably, Manchester United scored with all four of their shots on target in their two games against Liverpool this season. Louis van Gaal has won all four of his matches against the Reds in the league - plus an International Champions Cup game against them in pre-season. United have now won seven of their last nine against Liverpool in England's top-flight.

Manchester United's record in 48 Premier League meetings with Liverpool is W27 D8 L13, and have now won 12 of 24 Premier League meetings at Anfield, drawing four and losing the other eight.

Goals across the board

Wayne Rooney has scored the most Premier League goals for one club. I was wondering who has the most goals for two clubs, three clubs, four clubs and five clubs? Alan

Image: Lampard scored 177 goals across three clubs, including Chelsea

MARTIN SAYS: With the help of Opta I have broken down the data you have asked for.

TWO CLUBS: The Premier League's all-time top scorer, Alan Shearer, scored 260 goals for just two clubs - Newcastle and Blackburn, while Rooney has 191 goals for Manchester United and Everton. Frank Lampard has 171 goals for West Ham and Chelsea.

THREE CLUBS: Lampard has scored the most goals (177) for three different Premier League clubs - Chelsea, West Ham and Manchester City. He is followed by Robbie Fowler (163 - Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester City), Andy Cole (163 - Newcastle, Manchester United, Blackburn), Michael Owen (149 - Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle) and Teddy Sheringham (137 - Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham).

FOUR CLUBS: Cole leads the way when it comes to most goals scored for four different Premier League clubs (175 - Newcastle, Manchester United, Blackburn, Fulham). Owen has scored 150 goals for four different clubs (Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle, Stoke) while Sheringham netted 145 across spells at Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham and Portsmouth.

FIVE CLUBS: Cole leads the way when it comes to five as well (184 - Newcastle, Manchester United, Blackburn, Fulham, Manchester City). Behind him on the list of players who have scored for five Premier League sides are Les Ferdinand (148 - QPR, Newcastle, Tottenham, West Ham, Leicester) and Sheringham (146 - Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham, Portsmouth).

In contrast, on Monday Night Football, it struck me that Wayne Routledge has played for seven Premier League clubs - but only scored for one of them. All 11 Premier League goals in 240 appearances have come at his seventh club, Swansea.

Goals drought for United

Have Manchester United ever had such a bad goals-per-game ratio and has a team ever won the title scoring so few goals? MUFC183

MARTIN SAYS: Manchester United have scored 28 goals from 22 games, which works out as 1.27 goals per game. If United were to finish the season with that goals-per-game ratio then it would be their worst-ever in the Premier League.

If United's current scoring rate continues then they will finish the season on 48 goals. The lowest ratio for a completed season by United was 2004/05 when they scored 58 goals in 38 games at an average of 1.53 per game. They finished third that season.

However, United proved you do not have to score loads of goals to win titles in 1992/93 as they won the first edition of the Premier League despite having a ratio of 1.60 goals per game. This is the lowest of any title-winning team in the Premier League era.

The lowest goals tally from a title-winning side in a 38-game season is the 68 scored by United in 2008/09 and by Arsenal in 1997/98.

The best-ever ratio managed by United was 2.55 in 1999/00 with 97 goals scored in 38 games, led by Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole.

MARTIN SAYS: It probably won't surprise you to hear that 13-time winners Manchester United have enjoyed the most time at the top of the Premier League.

United have been at the summit for 2294 days, with last season's champions Chelsea their nearest rivals with 1326 days.

Arsenal, who have won the Premier League three times, sit third with 978 days and counting (up to Friday January 22 - they may not be top on Saturday night) ahead of Newcastle (360) and then Manchester City (301).

Liverpool have never won the Premier League but have spent 288 days at the summit, while 1994/94 champions Blackburn have enjoyed 238 days on top of the table.

Manchester City have spent 100 days leading the way this season, ahead of Leicester (33), Arsenal (22) and Manchester United (eight).

Interestingly, Leicester have had as many days on top of the Premier League this season as Tottenham have ever had (33 days).

Winning records

After Louis van Gaal's fourth straight league win over Liverpool, what's the longest 100 per cent winning record for a manager against one team in the Premier League? Jack, Oldham

Louis van Gaal, Liverpool v Manchester United, Premier League
Image: Louis van Gaal has won four successive matches against Liverpool

MARTIN SAYS: Van Gaal will need a few more wins against Liverpool before he can match the record held by Jose Mourinho, Rafael Benitez and Roberto Mancini.

All three have managed seven consecutive victories - Mourinho against Portsmouth, Benitez against West Brom and Mancini versus Wigan.

Mancini also won six out of six against Newcastle, while Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers achieved the same feat against Reading and Fulham respectively.

A few managers have a perfect record of five victories against the same side, including Andre Villas-Boas against Sunderland, Wenger versus Watford and Manuel Pellegrini against Newcastle, Swansea and West Brom.
