Cambridge have signed Leicester defender Alie Sesay on a one-month loan deal.
Sesay, who began his youth career with Arsenal, can play either in central defence or at right-back.
The 21-year-old has two caps for Sierra Leone and made his Football League debut while on loan at Colchester in 2014.
"We have seen a lot of him in the last few years and, although we couldn't bring him in whilst we were in the conference, we did think about approaching him a couple of times last season," Cambridge manager Richard Money said.
"I'm sure he'll come in and do well. He is a different type of defender in the central areas to what we have, because he is very quick. Although he is not the biggest, he has good strength and is extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet.
"We have made it clear to him that we know he is capable at playing right back, but we see him as central defender and I hope his time here will give him a big lift."
Sesay could make his debut in Saturday's Sky Bet League 2 clash at home to Northampton as Cambridge look for a first victory in four matches.
