Artur Boruc - Southampton
Another top-class performance from the Pole secured Saints all three points against Swansea. Boruc had a superb game, and made a couple of brilliant saves over the course of the 90 minutes. He fantastically denied a header from Michu, while his full-length stop to keep out Wilfried Bony's effort was excellent.
Sascha Riether - Fulham
Riether twice cleared off the line from Robert Huth, just after the half hour and on the 80-minute mark, as Fulham won at home to Stoke. The German right-back wasn't just vital defensively, however. He came close to teeing up Dimitar Berbatov only for that shot to be saved by Asmir Begovic, and his energy and enthusiasm almost resulted in a goal for himself.
James Tomkins - West Ham
Paulinho was denied a shot on goal by a good tackle from Tomkins in the first half as West Ham successfully kept Spurs at bay at White Hart Lane. As the Hammers got more adventurous in the second half, his header was clawed out by Hugo Lloris on 55 minutes. The former England Under-21 international formed a rock-solid centre-back partnership with Winston Reid and together they performed magnificently to keep Jermain Defoe and Christian Eriksen quiet.
Curtis Davies - Hull
Bold and brave at the heart of the Tigers defence against his former employers Aston Villa, Davies produced a solid display and bore the scars of battle afterwards. The centre-back left the field after 90 minutes sporting a Terry Butcher-esque headband, having sustained two head collisions against his old club. He remained resilient and consistent throughout as the Tigers repelled the threats of Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor in a 0-0 draw.
Davide Santon - Newcastle
Santon had made a fine start to the season in the left-back position for Newcastle, but struggled in the recent 3-2 defeats by Hull and Everton. However, the Italian looked back to his best at Cardiff, making five interceptions over the course of 90 minutes - no Toon player made more. Santon also combined well with goal hero Loic Remy down the flank and with big games coming up after the international break, the Magpies will need him to stay at his best.
Claudio Yacob - West Brom
Albion's Argentinian midfielder grabbed the opening goal on Sunday against Arsenal - a club who were once interested in signing him - and made sure the Gunners had a tough battle at the Hawthorns. Yacob made five tackles and three successful interceptions during the match, and only gave away one foul. Sneaking in to head home just before the break showed another side to his game, and Steve Clarke will be hoping he can contribute more goals to the Baggies cause in this campaign.
Jordan Henderson - Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers moved Henderson back into a central role for the visit of Crystal Palace and he did a fantastic job of shielding the defence and pressing the opposition. The 23-year-old has not been included in the latest England squad but repeat performances such as this will surely catch the eye of Roy Hodgson and help him add to his five senior caps to date.
