Blackpool have been fined £50,000 and "severely warned" by the Football Association over the abandonment of last season's final home game.

A pitch invasion by home supporters protesting against chairman Karl Oyston forced officials to call off the Championship game against Huddersfield on May 2 with 42 minutes still to play.

The club denied failing to control spectators, but an independent panel upheld the charge.

The FA verdict also ordered Blackpool to play one match behind closed doors, although that punishment has been suspended for a year.

The sanction will kick in if there is a further incursion this season that results in the players leaving the pitch.
