Though United will be heavily favoured to navigate their way through the two-legged tie and book a place in the group stage, assistant boss Ryan Giggs is taking nothing for granted.

"There are no mugs in it at this stage," Giggs said. "It will be difficult for us to qualify, especially with the play-off being early on in the season, but we are ready.

"We are used to being in the Champions League. It wasn't nice last year watching your rivals play in it."

Celtic, bidding to reach the group stage of the competition for the first time since 2013, will face either Maccabi Tel Aviv, Partizan, Malmo, KF Skenderbeu or FC Astana.

"We have two more games and we want to make it. It will be difficult, it doesn't matter who we will meet," he said.
