Aston Villa sign Serbian goalkeeper Matija Sarkic

Aston Villa have signed goalkeeper Matija Sarkic from Belgian club Anderlecht.

The 18-year-old Serb has agreed a three-year deal with the Midlands club for an undisclosed fee. 

Sarkic has come through the youth system at the Belgian club which oversaw the development of Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and caught the attention of Villa after playing for Anderlecht's U19 side.

He featured for Montenegro in the U17 European Championships in 2013 and has been called up to the U21 squad for their European Championship qualifier in Moldova on Friday.

The 'keeper, who was linked with a switch to West Ham in July, joins Brad Guzan, Mark Bunn and Jed Steer as the goalkeepers in Tim Sherwood's squad.
