Gillingham stayed top of Sky Bet League One after earning a 2-1 victory over Blackpool thanks to a Bradley Dack goal nine minutes from the end.

The Gills took a 17th-minute lead at the Priestfield Stadium through a right-footed shot from captain Doug Loft but the second half did not start well for them when right-back Ryan Jackson conceded an own goal, turning in a cross by Brad Potts.

However, late substitute Rory Donnelly put in a low ball which the Blackpool defence failed to clear and Dack calmly guided in the winner.

In their first game since the sacking of manager Dave Robertson last Sunday, Peterborough went on a goal-spree at Oldham with a 5-1 victory which included two goals apiece from Lee Angol and Souleymane Coulibaly.

Caretaker manager Grant McCann's side took the lead when summer signing Angol slid in to push a Coulibaly cross past the 'keeper before midfielder Erhun Oztumer doubled their advantage, stroking home a cross from Angol.

Three minutes after the turnaround, Rhys Murphy pulled one back for Oldham, receiving the ball on the edge of the box and curling a lovely shot into the top corner.

But two goals from Coulibaly just after the hour and a final strike by Angol moved Peterborough up three places in the table to 17th.

Oldham sacked manager Darren Kelly following the defeat, their first seven games having only returned one win and four draws.

Sheffield United dropped to fifth after losing 3-1 at home to Bury, Tom Pope tapping in a Danny Mayor assist to give the visitors the lead just after the hour following a goalless first half at Bramall Lane.

Billy Sharp equalised from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute but Bury right-back Joe Riley scored from outside the box 10 minutes later before striker Leon Clark got his fifth of the season in injury-time to seal the win which lifts Bury to ninth.

A close-range header from Stuart Beavon after 24 minutes lifted Burton Albion into third place in the table as they won 1-0 at home against Rochdale.

Fleetwood were quick off the mark to open the scoring against Bradford, Jimmy Ryan looping a free-kick over the visiting goalkeeper in the third minute.

But Bradford's James Hanson latched onto a cross from Josh Morris for a close-range equaliser in the 20th minute, with the second half remaining goalless.

A 79th-minute strike by Paddy Madden was enough for Scunthorpe United to halt Coventry City's flying start to the season.

Madden seized on a mistake by John Fleck to score and give Scunthorpe their second League One win of the season, dropping Coventry from second place to fourth.

City 'keeper Lee Burge had to make a strong save to deny Gary McSheffrey from a free-kick as Scunthorpe dominated much of the game, Ruben Lameiras also heading a flick by Jack King off the line, with a Romain Vincelot header being Coventry's closest chance.

Tom Bradshaw followed up a spectacular 85th-minute volley for Walsall with a clever chip over the visiting 'keeper to earn a 2-0 home win over managerless Doncaster.

Doncaster had nearly gone ahead through a James Coppinger bicycle kick in the first half but it was saved by Neil Etheridge.

Walsall have now won five of their seven games in League One while Doncaster, under the stewardship of caretaker manager Rob Jones for the first time since the sacking of Paul Dickov, have still not won away this season.

A headed own goal from Barnsley defender Lewin Nyatanga briefly put Swindon Town ahead before Marley Watkins equalised two minutes later.

Defender Reece Wabara then hit a 30-yard screamer to fire the Tykes ahead just before half-time for his first goal of the season and second-half goals from Nyatanga and Conor Hourihane gave the Yorkshiremen a comfortable 4-1 victory.

An injury-time own goal by Charlie Raglan saw Colchester come from two goals down to draw 3-3 at 10-man Chesterfield.

Drew Talbot was sent off for the hosts after just a quarter of an hour for a foul on Marvin Sordell, before Dan Jones scored for them from a free-kick.

Gavin Massey side-footed home a low cross from summer loan signing Callum Harriott to level the score, but, despite being a man light, Lee Novak's close-range finish and Sam Morsy's volley put the hosts 3-1 up.

George Moncur replied from 15 yards two minutes later, before Raglan turned a stoppage-time cross into his own net.

A hat-trick from Aiden O'Brien earned Millwall a 3-1 win over bottom club Crewe Alexandra.

Great work down the right wing by Carlos Edwards paved the way for O'Brien's first before Crewe had a bit of luck for the equaliser when Australian Brad Inman's shot was deflected in off Finnish striker Lauri Dalla Valle.

O'Brien put Millwall back in front with a superb 30-yard strike, before sealing the win with his third goal.

A thunderous strike from midfielder Anthony Grant gave Port Vale a half-time lead as they battled to a 3-2 home win over Wigan.

Striker Louis Dodds put Rob Page's men further ahead on the hour before Wigan's Chris McCann and Leon Barnett levelled the scores.

But Barnett was sent off for a professional foul two minutes from time and Uche Ikpeazu scored the injury-time winner with his fourth of the season.

A second-half header from centre-back Nathaniel Knight-Percival gave Shrewsbury Town a well-earned 1-0 victory at Southend United.
