Ashley Cole hit an 89th-minute equaliser as LA Galaxy scored twice in the final 10 minutes to snatch a 2-2 draw with New York Red Bulls.
The Red Bulls took a two-goal lead within a six-minute second-half spell, as Gonzalo Veron and Sean Davis found the back of the net.
But Galaxy rallied as former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard set up Mike Magee to reduce the deficit in the 80th minute.
And then former England, Arsenal and Chelsea left-back Cole completed the comeback, volleying home his first goal in Galaxy colours in the final minute of normal time.
Clint Dempsey struck a hat-trick as Seattle Sounders were too strong for Orlando City in a 3-1 success.
The 33-year-old hit his first domestic treble since scoring three in Fulham's 4-0 win over Charlton in 2012, finding the net in the 14th, 37th and 48th minutes to cancel out Seb Hines' seventh-minute opener.
Three second-half goals gave Portland Timbers a 3-0 win against Sporting Kansas City as both sides ended with 10 men.
Timbers' Diego Charra was the first to walk on 12 minutes as he pushed Benny Feilhaber in the face and Kansas City's Soni Mustivar followed just before half-time for a high tackle in Diego Valeri.
Timbers took control after the break with Valeri, Jack Jewsbury and Fanendo Adi sealed a comprehensive victory.
