Dominique Badji scored three second-half goals as the Colorado Rapids claimed their first win of the MLS season with a 3-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday.
The defeat was the Union's first of the campaign and extended their winless run on the toad to 13 games - the longest drought in franchise history.
The Union had the best of the first half, with Fabian Herbersfiring high and wide when well-placed before CJ Sapong headed Haris Medunjanin's cross wide.
Danny Wilson then headed over as the Rapids grew into the game and they took that momentum into the second half.
Badji opened the scoring on 53 minutes, before adding a second just eight minutes later and he completed his hat-trick three minutes from time.
Meanwhile, Chicago Fire were held to a 2-2 draw by the Portland Timbers, although the Illinoisans notched their first point of the season with the draw.
Atlanta United secured a 1-0 win over Minnesota United thanks to an own goal from defender Francisco Calvo.
Atlanta lost Gonzalez Pirez to a red late in the first half, but former Aston Villa keeper Brad Guzan kept Minnesota at bay for his first clean sheet of the season.
New York City rallied in the second half to beat San Jose Earthquake 2-1, with goals from Anton Tinnerholm and Maximiliano Moralez enough to leave Jose Quintana's third-minute effort in vain.
Sporting Kansas City beat DC United 1-0 thanks to a third-minute strike by Felipe Gutierrez, while 2017 runners-up Seattle Sounders lost 1-0 to Montreal Impact, with Jeisson Vargas scoring on the hour after Kevin Leerdam was shown a red card five minutes before the break for the Sounders.
Elsewhere, New England Revolution beat Houston Dynamo 2-0 thanks to goals from Teal Bunbury and Cristian Penilla.
