Sweden 1-0 South Korea
Sweden opened their World Cup campaign with a 1-0 win over South Korea thanks to Andreas Granqvist's penalty, which was awarded after the use of VAR.
Janne Andersson's side were awarded a penalty in the 64th minute when VAR helped overrule referee Joel Aguilar's original decision for a challenge on Viktor Claesson by Yong-Joon Lee inside the penalty area, from which Swedish captain Granqvist fired home (65).
It proved to be the only goal of the game as Sweden won their opening game at a World Cup for the first time since 1958 to move level with Mexico at the top of Group F following their shock 1-0 win over Germany on Sunday.
Belgium 3-0 Panama
Two goals from Romelu Lukaku and a stunning strike from Dries Mertens saw Belgium win their opening game 3-0 against debutants Panama in Sochi.
After a goalless opening period which lacked clear-cut chances, it took Mertens just two minutes to open the scoring in the second half.
Manchester United striker Lukaku (69, 75) then netted twice in six minutes to seal an ultimately comfortable win for Roberto Martinez's men, who top Group G ahead of England's match with Tunisia.
Tunisia 1-2 England
Harry Kane scored a dramatic injury-time winner as England beat Tunisia 2-1 in their World Cup opener in Volgograd on Monday evening.
The England captain, who had volleyed his side into an early lead, headed home after John Stones had flicked on a Kieran Tripper corner in the 91st minute to secure a vital three points in their bid to qualify from Group G.
A controversial penalty looked to have denied them the win when Kyle Walker was harshly penalised for an elbow on Fakhreddine Ben Youssef 10 minutes before half-time and Ferjani Sassi coolly slotted home.
We hate to be parochial, but Kane's late winner will live long in the memory for England fans and his dramatic last-gasp winner could be so crucial for the hopes of Gareth Southgate's side in Russia.
