Morecambe manager Jim Bentley is a contender to become the next Carlisle boss, according to Sky sources.
Keith Curle left his position as Carlisle manager earlier this month after failing to secure a play-off spot.
Bentley guided Morecambe to safety in League Two, with a final-day goalless draw at Coventry securing their survival.
The 41-year-old is the second longest-serving manager in the English league pyramid having spent over seven years in charge of the Shrimps.
He has two years remaining on his contract.
