Gonzalo Higuain has set his sights on "many titles" with Juventus following his £75.3m move to Turin, while admitting he understands Napoli fans' anger at joining a direct rival.

The Argentina international became the third most expensive player in history with the move and has spoken at length about his motivations behind the move.

"I chose Juventus for its winning mentality; this club is famous worldwide," Higuain said during a press conference following his unveiling. "They are used to winning and that's the reason I have decided to come here.

"Juventus is my choice, my present and future. It's my aim to have a great season. I want to show my worth here and win as many titles as possible."

It is little surprise that the promise of silverware has proved tantalising for Higuain.

Season Appearances Goals
2013/14 32 17
2014/15 37 18
2015/16 35 36

A Coppa Italia winner's medal in 2014 is the only major silverware that the striker has picked up in the last four seasons, despite excelling at club level throughout that period and reaching three finals with Argentina (twice in the Copa America as well as the 2014 World Cup final).

Last season saw Higuain rack up 38 Serie A goals to win the Capocannoniere by a remarkable 17-goal margin from his nearest challenger - compatriot and new team-mate Paulo Dybala.

"I'm good friends with Dybala," Higuain said after receiving a welcome video from his new strike partner on social media. "I appreciated his video for me. We'll aim to achieve great things together. I've never had problems with my striking partners. It's important to win as a team."

But the Naples club's owner has taken the news of the forward's exit badly, calling Higuain's move a "betrayal", while the supporters have also not responded well to their star man's departure.

"I spent three great years at Napoli and I can only thank them for their support, but this is a choice that I have made for personal reasons," Higuain added.

"I can understand they are extremely disappointed and upset with me, but this is a choice that I have made and I am happy about it."
