Cologne midfielder Sascha Riether is at the centre of a tug-of-war between a Premier League club and a Primera Liga team.
The 29-year-old was part of the Cologne side that were relegated from the Bundesliga last season and still has two years to run on his deal.
However, the club now have to live within new financial parameters and are willing to listen to offers of around £1.5million for their anchorman.
His agent Volker Struth revealed there was strong interest in his client but hinted it could be a transfer that is completed later in the summer.
"The transfer of Sascha is likely and a move to a foreign country cannot be ruled out in his case," he told
Kicker-Sportmagazin.
"He is being tracked by one club from La Liga and also one from the Premiership. There might even be the possibility of a loan.
"However, we have to keep in mind that the transfer business in both countries will start rather late this summer."
