Tottenham 2016/17 season preview: Five questions

Can Harry Kane have another big season for Tottenham in the 2016/17 Premier League season?

As we preview the new Premier League season, we pick out five questions for Tottenham.

What have they done in the transfer market?

Tottenham had a settled side for much of last season and with so many of the players enhancing their reputation, the emphasis this summer has been on strengthening the squad rather than finding replacements. Mauricio Pochettino appears to have done that.

Victor Wanyama has arrived from Southampton to provide competition for Eric Dier at the base of midfield. The pair could even team up to form a protective barrier. In attack, Vincent Janssen will hope to be more than mere back-up for star striker Harry Kane.

What does the manager say?

"We hear a lot about Tottenham and it's always that we're an easy team to play, who never show enough passion or aggression," Pochettino told The Mail this summer. "But we've started to change our mentality. To be a winning club, you always need to play on the limit. In football, to compete, to be a winner, you need to play on the limit. Always."

What's the pundit verdict?

Also See:

"Tottenham have already got the nucleus of the squad, they're ready to go. They've signed Vincent Janssen, who is a player I really like and a nice addition to Harry Kane, who can play in the wide areas or as a striker.

"They have got the best centre-back in the Premier League in Toby Alderweireld, and they've got a manager who is as good as any of them. I think Tottenham will go close this year." - Jamie Redknapp
