West Brom 2016/17 season preview: Five questions

Darren Fletcher and West Brom are set for another Premier League challenge in 2016/17

As we preview the new Premier League season, we pick out five questions for West Brom.

What have they done in the transfer market?

The Baggies have been quiet so far with Matt Phillips from Queens Park Rangers the only major addition as the club's summer business was complicated by the sale to a Chinese investment group. But expect ins and outs before the transfer window closes.

Saido Berahino is expected to finally leave the Hawthorns and a replacement will be sought. A deal for Diafra Sakho recently fell through following a medical. Tony Pulis must also reinvigorate an ageing backline at some point but it's goals that Albion require urgently.

What does the manager say?

Asked about the areas of the team that West Brom need to strengthen, Pulis was quoted last month in the Express and Star as saying: "All over. Every position that you look at. The back players, midfield players and front players, we have to strengthen. The targets have been there, we know what we want."

I would be surprised if there's more than three points between Swansea, Watford and West Brom at the end of the season.
Paul Merson

"I have put Swansea (15th), Watford (16th) and West Brom (17th) in the bottom six of my predicted table - and all three of them could finish in the bottom three. I would be surprised if there's more than three points between those sides at the end of the season." - Paul Merson

What's your prediction?

West Brom are 1000/1 with Sky Bet to lift the Premier League title and are 200/1 to finish in the top four. Even a top-four finish is available at 11/2. They are available at 9/4 to be relegated. Salomon Rondon is a 66/1 shot to be the Premier League top goalscorer.
